Reem Alhooshani

Reem Alhooshani joined the CCU Laboratory as a research intern in 2022, where she conducted research on “Electrochemical CO₂ Reduction to Value-Added Chemicals on a Copper-Based Catalyst.” Her project explored modifying copper-based catalysts to improve the electrochemical conversion of CO₂ into value-added products, achieving selective formate production. She presented this work at the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity (Ibda’a) in 2023, where she was selected as a finalist. She later returned to the CCU Laboratory as a Mawhiba Summer Research Student in 2023, conducting research on “Green Hydrogen Production: An Innovative Copper-Oxyiodide Catalytic System for Electrochemical Water Splitting,” which investigated copper-oxyiodide as an electrocatalyst for sustainable hydrogen production. She is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in Software Engineering at KFUPM.
